hi there, just wondered if any of you guys had experience with MasterCam, the rep came by the other day, and it seemd to be fantastic software, but i want some more info befor i take the $11000 plunge into it! |

I am using Onecnc. Their product was reasonably priced and windows based. Check out their software before committing to mastercam.I looked over both as well as a few others, and received a ton of advice from the forum at cnczone.com They,(onecnc), have various levels and you can upgrade at anytime. You also don't pay maintenance fees which can really add up. So far, this software is very user friendly and the customer support has been terrific the few times I contacted them. Good Luck! |

I have turboCad on my mac, but I used to have Mastercad design (the $100 software) and it was really nice and pretty simple to get around. I know Dana Bourgeois uses it, as he mentions it in an article in an old GAL issue...not sure if he still does or not, but it is widely accepted as some of the best. |

thanks john for the info, i have decided to go with the MasterCam software, i had a demo on it last week, and its phenomenal, especially for inlays, you can literally import a bitmap image of the inlay and click a button and have the inlay ready to cut in a few minutes.... it also doesnt create errors like cheaper software, which is nice to know rather chewing up braz. rosewood f/boards and b/blanks for no reason!! love the videos by the way, cant wait to see the neck set one paddy |
